De meesten in Nederland\u00a0zullen Joe Hill het beste kennen als de boekenschrijver,\u00a0maar Hill vind van zichzelf dat hij meer een comic schrijver is omdat hij zich daar het meest thuis in voelt. Toen hij na het succes van Heart-Shaped Box (2007) in een depressie belande en last had van paranoia werd elk boek dat hij probeerde te schrijven een boeltje. In diezelfde tijd werkte hij aan\u00a0Locke & Key en daarin bleek dat dat de\u00a0beste behandeling was voor zijn creativiteit want als hij bezig was aan de comic, zegt hij zelf, dan voelde hij zich\u00a0meer de persoon\u00a0die hijzelf\u00a0wilde zijn.<\/p>\n
